Love Autumn!

Just a quick post as I need to share my excitement for Autumn!!! I mean I love summer and the long hot days, bbqs, flip flops and sunbathing but there is something comforting about Autumn and now it is October I feel that autumn has really arrived.

How lovely is this photo montage I found on Pinterest!?

How can you not love:

The changing colours of the leaves on the trees
Cups of hot chocolate with cream
Fluffy socks and blankets
Big jumpers and boots
Halloween
Pumpkin carving
Bonfires
Crisp air
Cosy nights in
Baking cakes
Candles
The fact that Christmas is not too far away!!!!!
♥♥♥
So to prep yourselves for the autumnal months ahead here are some things you can do to help with the transition. (This post also is a bit of a wishlist too - enjoy)

Makeup - Switch up your makeup to suit the autumnal months, the simplest way is probably with lip colour - stick to dark nudes, berrys, plums and burnt red shades. Here are my top 3 shades for Autumn, they are all by MAC and are all shades I wished I owned unless Santa wants to come early?
MAC - Velvet Teddy My sister actaully owns this lipstick and she loves it, it is a nude pink/beige and is supposedly what Kylie Jenner wears to create her '90s lip look'. It looks lovely on my sister, and maybe she'll let me wear it now and again, Its a perfect Autumn nude shade.

MAC- Rebel How beautiful does this shade look, perfect for Autumn, I have seen it described as deep, fuschia berry. I would love to purchase this one and give it a go.

MAC - FrankNFurter So this collection looks amazing, it is a new 21-piece range dedicated to the cult movie 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' and this blood red lipstick is one of the stand out pieces for me. It is to be launched in the UK in time for Halloween apparantly - and if you've not seen it then check it out at MAC Cosmetics - Rocky Horror Picture Show Collection.

Nail polish - shop around for some gorgeous new colours, I have seen opi have a great collection called 'Nordic' and they have some beautiful shades in the collection, worth checking out!

Here are my favourites:
- Ice bergers and fries - A chocolate light brown shade.
- My voice is a little norse - A silver glitter polish that would look great to wear over Christmas.
- Thank glogg its Friday - A gorgeous berry/wine shade you could wear throughout Autumn/Winter.
-Viking in a vintner vonderland - A lovely deep purple shade.

They all look like beautiful shades and how brillant are the names? :) certainly on my wishlist.

Clothes - Dig out those scarves and wooly jumpers and boots, get snugg and stay warm whilst looking cute!
In particular I am loving River Island pieces this month, they have some lovely items in stock ready for the colder months, including tartan scarves, beautiful bobble hats in a range of colours, and some gorgeous over size jumpers and knit wear!

Red tartan blanket scarf at £15.00 Perfect with jeans boots and  leather jacket.

Black Pom Pom hat at £13.00 This hat comes in 10 different colours! Looks lovely and stylish and will also keep you warm in Winter.

Grey Tunic at £40.00 Love this jumper, easy to wear with some leggings, boots and an oversized bag! Great to see you through A/W.

Candles - In the Autumn/Winter fill your home and rooms with lovely warm scents, I have a love for candles and now the nights are drawing in there is nothing better than lighting your favourite candle to fill your rooms with the smells of cinamon, spiced apple, firewood etc..
My favourite brand at the moment is a candle I spotted in Cornwall called St Eval Candle Company and they smell amazing, I have Sandalwood which is a blend of 'warm musk and woody scents' I love it as it lasts forever, burns evenly and easily fills the room with its lovely fragrance. If you love candles please check them out!

That 90s lip

I am a fan of this simple new trend made popular by Kylie Jenner, it involves a dark nude lip shade and lip liner around the lips.

(photo taken from internet)

I have tried to recreate this look using Estée Lauder in shade 'Desirable' lipstick and Rimmel exaggerate lip liner in shade 'Eastend Snob'. By the way at  only £3.99 this retractable lip liner really is a must have - such great colour and staying power. The liner has an almost waxy texture and worn alone all over the lips can give a real matte look, I like to use a lipstick on top to give a more glossy look.
I also love this Lauder lipstick - very nourishing and feels lovely to apply. Have reviewed it in more detail in my post 'Estee Lauder Haul'.

(another photo taken on my phone to show without flash the true colour - more mauve/dark nude)

I love this nude/pink/brown lip, and although in the photos (with a flash) it looks quite pink, In real life it is defiantly more mauve.
There is still speculation over weather Kylie has had lip fillers to enhance the shape and size of her lips however this lip combo certainly enhanced the look of  my lips and made my lips look fuller, I only overdrew my lips slightly with the lip liner.
It can  be worn with a simple smokey eye or winged eyeliner, matte skin with some contouring and this make up look is quickly becoming a favourite of mine.

Does anyone else wear this look and what products do you use to recreate it?

Love Me Beauty box

So some of you may have heard me talk about the 'love me beauty' box before - it is a monthly beauty box you can subscribe to.
Recently the brand has gone through a re-branding and I love the new concept, in which you pick products tailor made to suit you! Rather than being sent a selection of products that might not suit you or your skin.

The new products arrive in a nice little fabric bag, and I am told from October they will be nicely presented in a pretty white box - packaging for me is so important!

The products I selected were all from the Love Me Beauty website, and basically to explain briefly, you pay £10.00 and you are given '5 tokens' a month and each product has a value of 1 or 2 tokens, depending on price/product size.  You are free then to browse the site and select the products that appeal to you!
Percy and Reed Shine and Fragrance spray - This item caught my eye as the packaging looked so cute and girly, the product claims to give hair a gorgeous rose scent whilst also giving a dazzling shine - and it does smell amazing - very floral and delicate, the spray also does give a visible shine to hair just be careful not to spray to close to roots as it can look greasy.
However a great finishing spray to add shine and a lovely smell!

ModelCo lipgloss in Fairy Floss - This handy lip gloss also has a mirror built on the side which is an added bonus (perfect for a girl on the go) the shade itself is a very pale pink colour, it would be ideal for day wear but for me personally it isn't bold enough - I have been on the Model Co website and seen they have 7 more shades so I will be interested to try more!

Absolute Bronzing Boost - I'll be honest I had to Google this sample as I wasn't sure exactly how to use it, but it says online
'Enjoy a guilt-free glow with an oil-free bronzer which protects your skin and blends easily for buildable coverage.
Wear alone for a bronze glow or for more complete coverage mix in with foundation.'
This sounds like a great product as I often fake tan but my body/neck/chest but don't like to apply tan oln my face as I think the product can block my pores, so for the days when I want to hide my pale face this would be fab at adding some colour. I am excited to try this out.

Murad T zone refining serum - This is a small size sample of a serum, which can be applied on a clean face. I recently applied a small amount of product to test, and the serum is clear and applies smoothly and silkily. It feels light on my skin and I shall use it for the next few weeks to see if I will notice an improvement in my skin texture and tone.

Over all I love this Love Me Beauty box and there re- branding, meaning now you can browse their website and pick individual products that appeal to you. The good thing is also you are exposed to brands you might never have heard of!
I urge everyone to take a look at Love Me Beauty and see if you can discover some new innovative products which you might love!
Also who doesn't love receiving a present from the postman each month?

MAC Morange

Well its been a while since I last posted, but that is due to a nice little holiday I went on, me and the family went to Cornwall for a week and it was lovely! Anyway..sorry for the lack of new posts - but I'm back now!

Right, I have to share my love for my new purchase, a gorgeous lipstick by MAC in 'Morange' It is so vibrant, bold and ORANGE! I love it.
The formula is so creamy and applies beautifully - like all MAC products the quality is great, it is one from their 'amplified' range which just mixes colour and texture really well bright yet not to dry! I can't wait to purchase more MAC lipsticks, as I am sad to say this is only my 2nd lipstick I own by MAC. I can easily spend hours on the MAC website flicking through the shade collection, I hope to add 'Ruby Woo' and 'Impassioned' to my collection next.

The shade 'Morange' is really stunning, I first wore it one night out for dinner in Cornwall and the shade really brightened my face and looks lovely with a tan, I'd say it compliments warmer skin tones. As it is such a statement lip colour I would only wear this with a simple eye makeup, perhaps a subtle gold/bronze eye shadow or simple cat flick - let the lipstick do the talking!!
All in all if your looking for a bright orange shade - get this lipstick you won't regret it!

(photo of me wearing the lip shade is not the clearest - only taken on my phone)

Pointy nails - love or loath them?

I have to do a short post on my love for pointy/stiletto nails.  For a while now I had been thinking of changing my square tip acrylic nails for 'pointy' nails - Much loved by Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Lana Del Ray and many more celebs,  after looking on Instagram and Pinterest at endless colours and designs I decided to take the plunge and get myself some claws!!!

My new nails <3 In OPI 'Sweet Heart' - this shade is the perfect pinky/nude.

And I love them ♥ I prefer the shape much more to squares and I personally think they look more elegant, they also suit my hand shape (I have long thin fingers and the nail suits the shape of my hands - or so the nail technician said)
I don't find any difficulties in wearing them, typing on a keyboard was slightly hard to get used to but I don't struggle, and I find using a touch screen phone is fine.
I know they are in fashion at the moment and perhaps soon they wont be on trend, but I am loving them and will continue to keep the pointy nails while I have acrylics on!
What's your opinion on pointy nails? Do you Love or Loath them?

Here are some of my favourite colours and designs I have seen on Pinterest, maybe they'll inspire you...
(All photos below have been taken from Pinterest and are NOT my own images -  I have simply used them as inspiration)

Below are Nude coloured nails which are probably my favourites - So wearable and easy for day to day wear! Love them all

Below are some slightly bolder colours, but I love them also - the red is gorgeous, the black  I know isn't everyones cup of tea but I love it (Especially for Autumn) and the white looks really simple and classy.

Love,

Emily x
